Negotiations between Federal Chancellor Scholz and Ukrainian President Zelensky on a security partnership will continue in the near future.
An agreement on “security guarantees” between Ukraine and Germany can be signed on February 16. Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote this on Saturday, February 3, with reference to the German agency DPA.
According to agency sources, the draft agreement is ready. The intergovernmental agreement may be concluded and signed during the Munich Security Conference.
“The planned agreement should be part of a network of bilateral security agreements designed to support Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression while the country is not yet a member of NATO. It was decided on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius on July. The group was chosen as the basis of the G7 structure,” the statement said.
It is known that Ukraine is negotiating with a number of countries on security guarantees. Specifically, this list includes the USA, Canada, Romania, France, Germany, and Italy.
It should be noted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. The main topic was the creation of the Artillery Coalition.
