The Tianmu-1 satellites will collect atmospheric data and provide commercial meteorological services.
China has sent four Tianmu-1 meteorological satellites into space. The mission marks the country’s first space launch of the new year, Xinhua reported on Saturday morning.
The spacecraft was launched into orbit by the Kuaizhou-1A launch vehicle. It was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
Tianmu-1 satellites numbered 19, 20, 21 and 22 will be part of the meteorological constellation and will be used to collect atmospheric data and provide commercial meteorological services.
This mission was the 25th flight of the Kuaizhou-1A launch vehicle. Since March 22 last year, this type of rocket has made five flights, sending 20 satellites into orbit.
Let’s remember that a week ago China launched an experimental spacecraft for satellite Internet technologies. It was launched into orbit by the Changzheng-2B launch vehicle.
And on December 26, China launched three Shiyan-24C scientific satellites. Then the Chang March 11 rocket was used.
