Tiangong is a manned multi-module orbital station of the People’s Republic of China, flying in low Earth orbit at an altitude of 340 to 450 km above the Earth.
The China National Space Administration has released the first high-resolution images of its Tiangong space station with Earth in the background. CGTN reported this on Wednesday, November 29.
The photos were taken by 16 Shenzhou astronauts from several hundred meters above the Chinese station before returning to Earth last month.
The images show a T-shaped station consisting of three modules, including large solar panels and a robotic outer arm. You can also see what Earth looks like from space, which is in the background.
At the time of filming, the ships Shenzhou and Tianzhou were docked at Tiangong. The first is used to transport crew to the station, the second is used to transport cargo.
As the Chinese National Space Administration points out, this is not the last view of the station. In the future, China plans to add a multifunctional module equipped with six docking ports to the Tiangong. This will allow more ships to dock at the station, and will also allow the complex to be expanded with new modules.
The Tiangong station can conduct half as many experiments as the ISS, but the Chinese station has more space for astronauts to live and work.
China plans to use the Tiangong station until 2031. At the same time, in January of the same year, the ISS should be deorbited and destroyed.
China has successfully launched the Shenzhou-17 manned spacecraft carrying three astronauts to its Tiangong orbital station.
It will be recalled that on May 10, China launched a new cargo ship, the Tianzhou-6, to deliver cargo to the Tiangong orbital station.
