A large part of the funding for military aid to Ukraine remains in the United States – media

A total of 31 senators and members of the House of Representatives, whose states or districts receive money earmarked for Ukraine, voted against or limited aid to Kyiv.

Most of the funds allocated by the United States to aid Ukraine are spent in the United States. This was stated in The Washington Post on Wednesday, November 29.

“Of the $68 billion approved by the US Congress, about 90% goes to Americans. The funds are spent on producing new weapons or replacing those shipped from American stocks,” the report said.

The author of the material, Mark A. Thiessen, points out that military aid to Ukraine is beneficial for US workers, whose votes are fought for by politicians.

“This provides significant funding for factories across the country, creating jobs and opportunities for local suppliers, shops, restaurants and other businesses that support weapons factories,” he wrote.

Thiessen noted that the US now has 117 production lines in at least 31 states and 71 US cities where the Americans manufacture major weapons systems.

At the same time, he points out that most senators ignore the obvious benefits for the United States.

“So, Ohio Senator JD Vance and Congressman Jim Jordan oppose aid to Ukraine and support the United Auto Workers. But union workers in Ohio are building Abrams tanks and Stryker combat vehicles for Ukraine thanks to aid of troops from the USA,” said Thiessen. .

He added that there are 31 senators against aid to Ukraine.

“At a time when both major parties are competing to win working-class votes and strengthen the US manufacturing base, our military aid to Ukraine is doing just that — it’s providing a significant infusion of money to factories in whole country,” the story said.

The head of the House Intelligence Committee, Republican Mike Turner, said that new American aid to Ukraine and Israel will be difficult to accept before the end of the year.

It was previously reported that US supplies of NATO-standard artillery shells to Ukraine have dropped by more than 30% since the start of Israel’s war against the Palestinian radical group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

We remind you that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called on the United States to start joint production of weapons.
