So far, the EU has not secured the supply of 1 million shells to Ukraine, which was promised to Ukrainian defenders in March.
NATO countries should encourage arms companies to increase their output to meet Ukraine’s needs in the next two years. British Foreign Minister David Cameron announced this on Wednesday, November 29, reports The Telegraph.
The British Foreign Minister, in the closed part of the meeting of the heads of Foreign Affairs of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance in Brussels, noted that in the near future NATO countries will have to increase the production of weapons.
He stressed that NATO members need to sign more long-term agreements with many countries to encourage arms manufacturers to increase production.
According to him, this should allow Ukraine to achieve victory in the war against the Russian Federation.
“Two weeks ago I was in Ukraine and said that we need to do everything possible to help Ukrainians repel Putin’s terrible aggression,” Cameron said.
He added that he will try to achieve progress in the production of weapons for Ukraine.
It was previously known that the UK, together with its partners, is implementing an Emergency Assistance Plan for Ukraine over the winter. It cost £127 million.
British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said the government would support British defense companies “helping countries like Ukraine” because it was in London’s interests.
