The James Webb Telescope took pictures of the Deep Galaxy

The M51 galaxy is located in the constellation Canes Venatici at a distance of approximately 27 million light-years from Earth.

The James Webb Space Telescope has provided an image of the spiral galaxy M51, known as the Deeps. It is located at a distance of approximately 27 million light years from Earth. Space reported it.

M51, also known as NGC 5194, is distinguished from other spiral galaxies by its well-defined and well-developed spiral arms. In other spiral galaxies, these arms may be scattered or ragged.

So the space telescope used two of its infrared instruments to image the galaxy, MIRI and NIRCam. The result is two different images, and then scientists combine them into one. As a result, you can view the galaxy in three different projections.

For example, dark red objects in the NIRCam image indicate hot, filamentous dust in this globule, while orange and yellow objects indicate patches of ionized gas caused by newly formed star clusters .

NIRCam

In the image taken by the MIRI instrument, empty cavities and bright filaments alternate, giving the impression of the appearance of a kind of ripples that deviate from the spiral arms.

MIRI

By combining MIRI and NIRCam images, scientists have created a combined picture that takes into account all these fine nuances.

In 2021, the Hubble telescope showed the structure of the galaxy in sufficient detail, but the new images allowed scientists to get more information about the internal structure of the galaxy.

It was previously reported that James Webb took an image of the Annular Nebula, located at a distance of approximately 2200 light years from Earth.
