The first orbital test flight of the system has been postponed to April 20. It will take place in unmanned mode.
SpaceX will make a second attempt to launch the super-heavy Starship rocket on April 20. This was reported by the company’s press service.
The new 62-minute flight test window opens Thursday at 8:28 am PT and closes at 9:30 am (4:28 pm and 5:30 pm ET).
The launch will take place from a launch site in Boca Chica, southeast Texas, in unmanned mode. As part of the flight, the rocket must complete an orbit around Earth, after which Ship 24 will make a controlled splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
It will be recalled that the first orbital test flight of Starship was supposed to take place on April 17, but it was canceled 40 seconds before launch due to problems with one of the carrier’s pressure valves.
Starship is a reusable transport system designed for manned missions to the Moon and Mars. It consists of the Ship 24 spacecraft and the Super Heavy carrier, which reaches a height of 120 meters.
