The Danuri spacecraft successfully orbited the moon. Yonhap reported this with reference to South Korea’s Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technologies.
The Danuri unmanned spacecraft, also known as the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter, was captured by the moon’s gravity and began orbiting the moon, according to the ministry on Tuesday.
The space probe entered orbit after performing three maneuvers since December 17.
It was learned that Danuri was supposed to enter lunar orbit on Thursday after performing a total of five rounds of maneuvers, but reached the goal earlier than planned.
The ministry also said that after a 145-day journey from Earth, the spacecraft is now orbiting the moon at a speed of 1.62 kilometers per second in a typical two-hour cycle. He has 93 kilograms of fuel left, enough to complete a one-year mission next year.
Earlier it was reported that NASA officially said goodbye to the InSight lander, which spent four years exploring the bowels of Mars.
