Full chamber of the Supreme Court elected Chief Justice Javier Arevalo Vela as the new President of the Judiciary for the period 2023-2024. nine voices Out of 15, which corresponds to the total number of supreme judges that make up the room, they decided that Arevalo Vela would replace Elvia Barrios at the head of this state power.

Ulises Yaya was elected as the new head of the Magistracy Control Office
On the same day, Chief Justice Ulises Augusto Yaya Sumeta was elected as the new head of the Office of Magistracy Control (OCMA). This was confirmed by a vote of the entire Supreme Court.
Yaya Sumeta will take office, replacing Chief Justice Vicky de la Rosa Bedrignan. Recall that the former head of the OCMA resigned for personal reasons.
