From the city Trujillocongressmen Edward Malaga (not in the group), Diego Bazan (Avanza Pais) and Carol Paredes (People’s Action) announced the submission of a third vacancy proposal against President of the Republic Pedro Castillo.
“Here I have a draft of a job offer that several colleagues are working on. The idea is not that they believe him or that they don’t like the president. movement and that they agree, or that the reasons are wrong. But don’t vote with your liver or your heart. Always decide wisely. We can agree or not, and democracy says that the majority will win,” said the parliamentarian. Malaga.
First attempt at a job
In December 2021, then Congressional Third Vice President Patricia Chirinos backed the first vacancy proposal against Pedro Castillo. However, the initiative received the support of only 46 parliamentarians against 76 votes, which ultimately denied this possibility. Therefore, the Chirinos proposal was never allowed to be discussed.
Among the arguments used in support of this request were the alleged misuse of public funds, the alleged designation of individuals associated with terrorism, and the alleged pressure on the Armed Forces and Sunat.
Second job attempt
On March 8, 2022, Fuerza Popular, Renovación Popular and Avanza País benches submitted a new job offer against Castillo. This time the initiative was allowed to be discussed by 76 votes against 41, with one abstention.
However, after discussion, the proposal received only 55 votes in favor, 54 against, and 19 abstentions; so it went to file.
