Any actions of the invaders, which could provoke the shutdown of the reactors, will again put the station on the brink of disaster, the head of state said.
The Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is connected to the grid, but Europe’s largest nuclear power plant remains one step away from disaster. This is what President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Friday, August 26.

According to him, it is only thanks to Ukrainian nuclear scientists and specialists in the energy industry that it is possible to protect Zaporizhzhya NPP from the worst scenario, which is constantly being provoked by Russian forces.
“I want to emphasize that the situation remains very dangerous, dangerous. Any repetition of yesterday’s events, that is, any disconnection of the station from the network, any Russian actions that could provoke the shutdown of the reactors , will once again put the station on the brink of disaster,” Zelensky said.
The head of state stressed that the IAEA mission should arrive at the station as soon as possible and help keep the nuclear power plant under Ukrainian control on a permanent basis.
The President expressed gratitude to all diplomats, partners and nuclear scientists who “in the true sense of the word saved both Ukraine and Europe.”
It will be recalled that on August 25, ZNPP was completely disconnected from the power grid for the first time in history. The station remained in this state until noon on August 26.
The day before, the first of the six power units was connected to the grid, at night it was possible to connect another one.
