Robert Sulawyer Alejandro Toledo, said that the former president is suffering from cancer, in addition to a number of diseases that would be accredited. However, he commented that, despite this, the reasons for his protection in the United States are not on the side of the disease, but that its nature will be different.
“His condition is similar to that of a person recovering from cancer.. He said it. He is a man who has several recognized diseases that have been treated for many years. He has quite an extensive medical history with California doctors treating him. It is clear that he is not Alejandro Toledo from 20 years ago. This is a man whose health is undermined,” he said in Air Rotary.
“(Cancer) will not necessarily complicate his extradition. It is not known whether this disease may be a deterrent. The reasons given by his lawyers in the United States are of a different nature (…) The former president of Toledo is undergoing treatment in which he takes 11 to 13 tablets a day. This is what he uses simultaneously and constantly. (But) it’s not what the lawyers used and also doesn’t match the contract. The treaty establishes that the Peruvian State may request and must accompany elements of persuasion supporting the request,” he added.
If the deadline is up, Alejandro Toledo will perform.”
On the other side, Robert Su He specified that if the deferred extradition period for his extradition expires, the former President of Toledo will surrender to the US authorities.
“If the deadline expires, the former president of Toledo will face US authorities.like he did about 15 days ago when some of your reporters intervened as he was leaving court because they told him to continue at large,” he said.
However, he mentioned that he would continue to defend the former head of state for the time being, following a process that is under consideration in Lima.
“I spoke yesterday and We coordinated our instructions in Lima.. Today at 3:00 pm we have a hearing with Judge Concepción Caruancho, who I think will rule on the dismissal of two former Maiman employees. Tomorrow the oral process in the “Ekoteva case” continues. And on Friday, we have another procedure with Judge Concepción Caruancho, where the investigation of the charges continues,” he said.
“The President of Toledo has only been called once in the intervening years to testify on Catch 4 in the Internamericana Sur case. never called to testify,” he concluded.
