Interior Minister Vicente Romero, accompanied by Women’s Minister Nancy Tolentino and PPP Commander-in-Chief Jorge Angulo Tejada, said three police officers had been arrested for sexually assaulting a young woman in the Macusani area. Puno.
In statements to the Peruvian TV channel, the head of the minister indicated that the victim was hospitalized and stressed that the complaint was filed by the mayor of the said city and that the police and the prosecutor’s office took immediate measures to detain the employees involved.
“Unfortunately, today we learned (about) a case that happened in Makusani (…) when 3 police officers accompanied a lady to a disco. “The mayor took notice, condemned these facts and informed the commissioner, who immediately took action and arrested these 3 police officers,” he added.
Minister Romero noted that investigations were being carried out by Ayabaka’s Deputy Prosecutor, Dario Panti Lica, and that, at the same time, appropriate disciplinary sanctions were being applied against three officers.
“I have ordered that this administrative and disciplinary investigation be prompt and immediate, and that they be suspended from service as required by law. This implies a 50% discount on their consolidated remuneration and they are not eligible for bonus payments. or hold any office,” he said.
Similarly, the Minister of the Interior said that his office rejects such actions and expects the most appropriate sanctions against those involved.
“I express my strong condemnation of this fact, which casts a shadow on the actions of the police. We are working to strengthen this disciplinary regime of the National Police. From the ministry, we will support all the victims of these people who act against women,” he said. .
For his part, the commander-in-chief of the PPP noted that the head of the Puno police station is already on site to ensure that the investigations of both the police and the prosecutor’s office are conducted transparently.
“The same head of the police station is on site to check that all actions that are in line with the disciplinary issue of the police and the public ministry are carried out transparently and in accordance with the relevant due process,” he said.
