Each of the detainees was imposed on an administrative penalty: the court determined the fine of the fine after the protocol drawing. However, it does not prevent violators.

Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine’s border guards stopped more than 13 thousand attempts to illegally cross the border. This was said by Ukraine Andrei Demchenko’s State Border Service representative during a television speech on Sunday, August 24th.

He noted that every detained of violators is brought to the administrative responsibility, as the court determines the value of the fine based on the drawn protocol. Arrangers and accomplices of such schemes, in turn, are already carrying criminal responsibility. However, administrative measures are not always effective, as some citizens are confined again – sometimes several times, from three to ten or more.

It is known that the government is working on amendments to the current law to strengthen control. Among the proposed changes included the transfer of cases of illegal removal of military personnel exclusively to the capacity of the border guards, the establishment of criminal responsibility for border violations, border infrastructure damage or an attempt to leave the country outside of official checkpoints during martial law.

Earlier it was reported that the Rada was suggested to introduce criminal responsibility for people who avoid legal border crossing.

Earlier, Mogilev-Podolsky’s detachment guards in Vinnitschin prevented an attempt to illegally cross the state border.
