The Congressional Oversight Commission agreed to request the full 30-Day Investigation Extension alleged acts of corruption in the implementation of projects financed by the municipalities of Angii and Chadin. This is within the expected criminal organization established itself in the Government Palace and was led by former President Pedro Castillo.
The investigation also includes projects funded by the Department of Housing that were subject to Emergency Ordinance No. 102-2022.
The chairman of the Oversight Commission, Hector Ventura, supported this request and stated that the frequent postponements of both witnesses and defendants had led to a significant delay in the investigative work.
“We have yet to collect evidence from at least 11 people from among the witnesses or those under investigation. Therefore, it is necessary to extend the deadline by another 30 working days (…). The requested additional term will help to determine the political and legal responsibility of those under investigation, which will once again complete the investigative actions,” he said.
pending statements
Ventura specified that 14 ordinary and extraordinary hearings were held in this case, and 33 witness statements were taken from eight persons under investigation. However, the collection of protective equipment for the former president has not yet been completed. Pedro Castillo and former mayors of Chachapoyas (Victor Raul Kalki Puerta) and Chadin (Cesar Castillo Cabrera).
Applications from businessmen Abel Cabrera Fernandez, José Cabrera Fernandez, Anji Espino Lukana, Anani Hernan Aguilar Lokoni are also pending. Likewise, Walter Paredes Navarro, David Alfonso Paredes Navarro and Yennefer Paredes Navarro, all siblings of former First Lady Lilia Paredes, must appear before this parliamentary working group.
