Most Brazilians are always waiting for the best opportunity to take that long-awaited trip. Whether with friends, family or even alone, traveling is good for both the body and mind. For this reason, based on the categories awarded at the Traveler Review Awards 2023, Booking.com decided to make a list of the 10 most welcoming places in Brazil. Check out!

1. Porto de Galinhas (PE)

First place could not be any other. Porto de Galinhas was elected the eighth most welcoming destination in the world by the Traveler Review Awards 2023, being the only Brazilian representative on the list. The resort is known for its white sand beaches, crystalline and warm waters, coconut trees, natural pools, good food and, of course, excellent accommodation.

2. Penedo (RJ)

Penedo is a city located in the south of the state of Rio de Janeiro, close to the Itatiaia ecological park and at the foot of the Serra da Mantiqueira, known for its waterfalls, its chocolates and for being one of Santa’s homes. The district is the main Finnish colony in Brazil, with typical architecture and super colorful and cozy houses.

3. Monte Verde (MG)

Once again, the Monte Verde mining district is on the list of most welcoming destinations in Brazil. Called “The Brazilian Switzerland”, the small village (with more than 4 thousand inhabitants) offers natural areas, such as trails, parks and waterfalls, several species of wild life and delicious cuisine from Minas Gerais.

4. Fernando de Noronha (PE)

Fernando de Noronha is a natural paradise, desired by travelers from Brazil and the world. According to a recent survey carried out by Booking, Praia do Sancho was voted the best in the country. The scenery is paradisiacal, with beaches with clear waters, hundreds of species of marine and terrestrial life, colorful corals and rock formations. The archipelago is still considered one of the best destinations for diving, with fish of different species, dolphins, sharks, stingrays and turtles.

5. Lavras Novas (MG)

Lavras Novas is one of the 13 districts of Ouro Preto, which conquers travelers for its tranquility and colonial style. The destination is ideal for tourists looking to escape the hustle and bustle, rest, eat good food from Minas Gerais, contemplate nature, visit historic buildings and take a refreshing bath in the waterfall. A good choice for the day is to enjoy one of the bars in the city center, with live music and a cold beer.

6. Viscount of Mauá (RJ)

At an altitude of over 1600 m in the Serra da Mantiqueira, Visconde de Mauá is a refuge with options for ecotourism and adventure tourism, in addition to being an excellent destination for couples. For the adventurous, there are trails, horseback riding, mountain biking and waterfalls. For lovers, fate has a romantic moodwith chill, ideal for a wine with a fireplace and restaurants with good cuisine.

7. Pedra Azul (ES)

Pedra Azul is the capixaba representative on the list of the most welcoming destinations in Brazil. The city is one of the most famous and sought after places in Espírito Santo, full of different species of animals and natural beauties. The Pedra Azul National Park is one of the main tourist attractions in the entire region and where the famous Pedra Azul is located, a rock formation considered Brazilian geological heritage, with a bluish hue.

8. Serra do Cipó (MG)

Called by Burle Marx “The Garden of Brazil”, Serra do Cipó is a set of natural beauties formed by rivers, waterfalls, canyons and caves with a breathtaking view. The village in Minas Gerais draws attention for its welcoming atmosphere, for the proximity to nature and the practice of extreme sports such as abseiling, cycling, mountaineering and trekking.

9. Pomerode (SC)

Considered the most German city in Brazil, Pomerode is located in the interior of Santa Catarina and offers the visitor architecture, gastronomy, festivals and Germanic traditions. Every year, in the month of January, the Pomeranian Party takes place in the city, known for being focused on German culture. At Easter time, the famous Osterfest takes place, known for having the largest Easter tree in the world and the largest Easter egg in the world.

10. Abraão (RJ)

Located on the Costa Verde of Rio de Janeiro, Vila do Abraão is located in Ilha Grande, a district of the municipality of Angra dos Reis, and is the largest island in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The nature in the place is exuberant, formed by areas of Atlantic Forest, mangroves and restinga, with many trail options, waterfalls, in addition to the famous and paradisiacal beaches, with white sand and clear waters.
