Putin’s war of aggression is so intense that even after repeated warnings from the United States, Ukrainians can’t believe it could happen, he stressed.
A well-known lawyer and wife of famous actor George Clooney, Amal Clooney, at an informal UN Security Council meeting, reacted to Russia’s full invasion of Ukraine. At the Organization’s headquarters, he gave an emotional speech in support of Ukraine.
“Ukraine is a massacre in the heart of Europe,” Clooney said.
He also slammed politicians who “called for justice, but didn’t do it.”
“I’m afraid you’re going to be busy and interrupted and that every day the war is pretty much out of control and people are going to be more indifferent to it,” he added.
Clooney pointed out that Russian troops were accused of raping women and girls on the streets, as well as of torturing and shooting civilians.
“And Ukraine will be left alone in the pursuit of those responsible for these atrocities. We will not allow it. Putin’s aggressive war is so intense that even after repeated warnings from the United States, Ukrainians cannot believe this can happen, ”the lawyer stressed.
In addition, he criticized the UN for not responding properly to human rights violations in the past.
“And I still read the headlines without knowing how to understand them. Were thousands of children forcibly deported to Russia? Could it be that teenage girls were raped on the streets in front of their families and neighbors?” Children “is written, and civilians today in Mariupol are systematically oppressed and starved? Unfortunately, the answer is positive,” concludes the famous actor’s wife.
Meanwhile, we added that Clooney is part of an international legal task force advising Ukraine on ensuring the accountability of victims in national jurisdictions and cooperates with the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
