Zelenska emphasized that now Ukraine’s struggle is not only about freedom, but also about ethics.
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska told how to communicate correctly with disabled people. He raised this topic on the eve of the International Day for Tolerance.
The wife of the Ukrainian President took part in the presentation of the Handbook of accessibility in Kyiv. This is the first manual on proper communication with people with disabilities.
“Words are important. How to say correctly: “a person with a prosthesis” or “without hands”? I’m sure at this point we will all think. How to offer help to a disabled person? Is it right to take a blind person on the arm when accompanying him? Today, on the International Day for Tolerance, we presented in Kyiv our printed Handbook of accessibility – the first manual on proper communication that inspires, not inhibits,” said Zelenska.
He admitted that the project raised many questions on this topic.
“When this project started, there were many questions – both for society and for me personally. work, decent pay, decent opportunities. All this is called barrier-free. The book, full of illustrations, using embossing to perceive the pattern and Braille for visually impaired people, will go to national, regional libraries, state enterprises. The publication is not for sale – it is for study, maximum distribution and maximum application,” said Zelenska.
Also, the first lady added that today the struggle that Ukraine is engaged in is not only about freedom, but also about ethics.
“The struggle that our country is doing today is not only for freedom. It is for meanings. For ethics. For tolerance and mutual support. For respect and appreciation for all. It starts with each of us,” the First Lady summed up.
