The travel bottle sat on one of George Sand’s dressing tables at his home in Gargilles, Bury. This unexpected residue is the start of a slightly crazy project that brings together Annick Le Guerant, perfume historian and anthropologist; Dominique Ropion, MKP perfumer; Benoît Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli, founders of Astier de Villatte and their accomplice and designer Emilie Mazo. Their ambition is to recreate the perfume worn by the writer.
“When Christian Sand, one of George Sand’s descendants, entrusted this little bottle to Annick Le Guerrant, the texture had turned dark and thick because the alcohol had evaporated and the cork was completely stuck.recalls Dominique Ropion.
