The Ukrainian performer, leader of the group Antitila, Taras Topolya, who became a member of the jury of the National Selection for Eurovision 2023, admitted that it was a surprise for him to become a candidate. He revealed this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, he did not know that he was nominated in the national selection jury, but when he won he felt happy, because he was trusted, but at the same time, it was a big responsibility for him.
“It was a surprise for me that I was added to the list. The Suspilny team is constantly in contact with my team, and I am faced with the fact that I am on this list of people voted. Surprisingly, it is perhaps not the right word for me to describe my feelings, more, perhaps, the word “responsibility”, – said the artist.
At the same time, Taras Topolya added that he is not afraid of scandals that may occur in the final selection of the participant representing Ukraine at Eurovision 2023.
“There’s nothing wrong with me. After six months and zero, it’s hard to find something I’m not ready for,” the musician admitted.
However, he mentioned that he was afraid of choosing the wrong candidate, so he would study the work of the participants and their views on life.
“The only thing I am really afraid of is choosing a worthy candidate. This is a responsible mission. In this regard, I have to spend most of my time thoroughly studying all the applicants: their creative material, their biography, their statements, their position in life etc. So that when the moment comes to sit at the jury table next to Jamala and Yulia Sanina, be ready to really objectively, as much as possible evaluate each among the candidates, “summed up the leader of the Antitila group.
