The award, celebrated in Poland for the fight for human rights, is named after a Brazilian diplomat who worked for more than 34 years at the UN.
Ukrainian poet, musician Serhiy Zhadan received the Sergio Vieira de Molla Prize dedicated to human rights. He announced this on his Facebook page.
“I think these are urgent and important issues for Ukraine today – the Russian occupiers have deprived thousands of our compatriots of elementary rights and freedoms. In fact, this war is being waged for on our rights, especially, for the right to remain ourselves. Many thanks to our Polish friends for “continuing to support Ukraine for being concerned about our pain and filled with our faith. It is clear that now all the awards, prizes and distinctions that Ukrainian artists receive are, first of all, manifestations of respect and support for all Ukrainians who oppose the aggressor,” he wrote.
At the same time, the star added that the cash prize attached to the award, namely 10,000 zlotys, which is equivalent to 75,000 hryvnias, will be invested in the defense of Kharkiv.
