Especially for the broadcast, the presenter Scott Pelly and the film crew visited Ukraine – the cities of Kyiv, Bucha, Chernihiv.

The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska was a guest of the American socio-political TV show 60 Minutes on CBS and spoke about the traumas of Ukrainians due to the war.

“Some say that we live in a permanent February 24. We really cannot be distracted from this situation. We try to be distracted from work, from ongoing tasks, by helping each other, but all the same, the understanding that hanging you want the sword of Damocles that this is a war, and when it will end, we don’t know,” said Zelenskaya.

The first lady said that almost 150 schools in Ukraine were completely destroyed, and 900 were so damaged that it was impossible to study in them. According to him, from about 15,000 schools that existed before the war, about 12,000 remain in Ukraine. 3,500 schools have accepted students to study inside the walls, because there are bomb shelters, and somewhere the same number will teach children online.

“Now parents who send their children to school should give them an alarm backpack. It should contain water, phone, toys, change of clothes. From the first grade, children should know where the bomb shelter is and how to act when something happens. This is not something you want to teach children, especially in the first grades. As a mother, the very thought that this could happen to my son, that he would need things that this is at school, it means that something terrible has happened, – he emphasized.

The first lady added that it was not an insult, but it was impossible to forgive.

“At the beginning of the program, you asked me what Ukrainians are missing. Someone is missing here (he pointed to his heart), someone is losing their home, because many people will not return to their homes. And even Mariupol was liberated “But I’m sure that it will be, if it is rebuilt again, it will no longer be the city they were traveling from. It will be a different city. A little different. This is what people are missing. And this girl Sasha from Gostomel, who lost her arm during the evacuation, and now received a very new prosthesis, will always see what she lost in this war. He will always know that he does not have this arm. There are many such people. We are talking about civilian casualties. And the military situation in general is very difficult.” Zelenskaya said.

The First Lady thanked the American people for their support and noted the need for its continuation.

“Over these months, our society has had a strong understanding that one person must be in the middle of everything. We help each other. I think we will never lose it, but it will only increase. All social and political processes in the country must be human-centric,” Zelenskaya said.

Recall that earlier Zelenskaya presented her charitable foundation.
