The multi-artist considers the decision not to perform in the Russian Federation one of the most important in life.
Ukrainian singer Dmitry Monatik admitted that he traveled to Russia after 2014 in search of quick fame, because Ukrainian songs cannot become hits without attracting the Russian market. He said this in an interview with ICTV Facts.
“When I started, I moved to Kyiv in 2008 – it’s a different show business and different rules. And it felt that until 2014, until the song became popular in Russia, it was not played very much in Ukraine. In 2014 after the Revolution of Dignity, everything started to change, but their hits still sounded. But even our songs are better perceived here, the radio took them better,” he said.
At the same time, according to the performer, he stopped traveling to the country of the aggressor in 2015 because he was uncomfortable.
“I decided not to perform in the Russian Federation at corporate parties, awards. You have to understand that there is a big market, other incomes. There is some kind of temptation here, because everyone always wants more and more . This is how we humans are wired – when we achieve something, we want more. But money has never been a motivator, I’ve been motivated by creativity and people. I’ve always loved watching people dance to the songs we put out. So, I coolly developed myself here,” shared MONATIK.
Earlier it was reported that Dmitry Monatik, after returning to Ukraine, held a concert in the Kiev metro.
