A new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art explores the influence of clothing and style on black male identity.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced a new exhibition titled Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which explores the role of clothing and style in shaping black male identity.
The exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, was inspired by Professor Monica Miller’s research and the book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. This is the Costume Institute’s first exhibition in over two decades to focus exclusively on men’s fashion.
Visitors will find pieces that reflect the style of black men from the 18th century to the present day.
The museum also announced the names of the Met Gala 2025 co-chairs. They are Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary co-chair.
It was previously reported that actor Chris Hemsworth decided to ignore Met Gala protocol.
