A play written by a trans woman has another trans woman as the protagonist and is a big hit in LGBTQIA+ visibility
“Vienen Por Mí” is structured in four acts, which combine elements of archaeology, makeup and transvestite philosophy. The manifesto-text addresses themes such as violence and discrimination, while proposing a new way of narrating trans history, offering a queer perspective that is rarely seen outside of obituaries. “It’s about a transvestite writing her story while she’s alive. And that’s all that matters,” explains Fábia Mirassos.
The play is the result of a partnership between Fábia and Claudia Rodriguez, which began during the pandemic, when Fábia participated in a virtual reading of the text in the project “Stories of Our America”. From this meeting, the idea arose to bring “Vienen Por Mí” to the Brazilian stage, in a show that also functions as a political tool to give voice to the trans community.
The show will run from Friday to Monday, always at 9 pm, at Theater II of CCBB BH. Tickets range from R$15 to R$30 and can be purchased on the CCBB BH website or at the box office. All performances will be accessible in Libras, and the program will be available in Braille. In addition, on September 14, after the performance, there will be a chat with the actress and the director about the creative process and the trajectory of the play in Brazil.
“Vienen Por Mí” stands out not only for its thematic relevance, but also for the way it addresses sensitive issues with poetry and humanity. The play invites the audience to reflect on prejudices and stereotypes, proposing a new vision of the history and experiences of trans people, and reinforces the importance of theater as a space for resistance and social transformation.
