“House of the Dragon” has trans actress Abigail Thorn in the season finale

Abigail Thorn debuts as Admiral Sharako Lohar in the series’ second season

The second season of “House of the Dragon” introduced trans actress Abigail Thorn in a pivotal role as Admiral Sharako Lohar in the Westeros-set Game of Thrones spinoff. The season finale, which featured performances by Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy, brought an additional surprise for fans, especially queer viewers.

Abigail Thorn plays the Admiral of the Triarchy, a fierce naval commander and new ally of the faction known as Green Team, led by Alicent Hightower (played by Cooke). Thorn’s character is central to the episode’s narrative, which takes place far from Dragonstone, on the tropical islands controlled by the Triarchy.

In the plot, Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall), an ally of Team Green, tries to gain the support of the Triarchy fleet. To do so, he needs to impress Admiral Lohar. During the dialogue, Sharako expresses her desire to have children with Lannister, suggesting that he impregnate his many wives.

While the episode doesn’t explicitly show this event, the season finale hints at the Triarchy firmly aligning with Team Green, sailing to the Gullet to confront Team Black’s Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint). The adaptation features a female version of Sharako Lohar, who in George RR Martin’s book is portrayed as a man but retains her lustful and powerful character. LGBT+ victory!
