New work by the musician from Curitiba continues the sound research of Apocalypse Now and is accompanied by a documentary about the resistance of electronic music
“Techno Mundo” is the technological industry, it is the rhythm of machines in the tropical heat. The world here is Brazil, where dance comes in tears amid the eternal resurgence of the phoenix, it inspired the dancing, visceral and noisy Techno Mundo”, says the artist. Mistinguett describes the EP as a development and refinement of her sound research, reflecting her current life and a more adaptive and optimistic vision, not in the hopeful sense, but in the ability to adapt to circumstances.
Produced entirely in Brazil with local technologies, “the EP mixes musical genres and challenges aesthetic and sonic boundaries. It is characterized by a rich tapestry of sounds that includes electronic and digital equipment, spoken and melodic voices, broken beats, retro sounds, synthesizers, noise , organic instruments, improvisations and effects. This work is the result of Mistinguett’s more than 20 years of experience as a DJ in underground clubs in Brazil and abroad, as well as producing his own music.
Mistinguett has always thought of his compositions in a multilingual way, integrating sounds, images, light, movement and objects. “I think of music as soundscapes, which track emotions and sensations. Colorful and geographical sound layers. I tell stories and invent narratives,” he explains. For the EP’s graphic art, she invited Strangepeo to develop 3D art that addresses discussions about Artificial Intelligence and technology, as well as reflecting on Latin American bodies in 2024.
The EP is mastered by sound engineer Florencia Saravia and executive produced by Helen Kaliski. Along with the launch, Mistinguett proposes an online chat about “Dissident Musical Production”, with mediation by Leandra Lambert and participation by Florencia Saravia-Akamine and Marina Vello, also known as Marina Gasolina.
Furthermore, the release is accompanied by the documentary “Música Eletrônica Resiste”, which addresses the production chain of independent electronic music and the production of the EP. Watch the documentary on YouTube.
