The objective is to draw the community’s attention to the importance of choosing representatives committed to the cause
The election year in the municipalities is the theme of the 28th São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade, scheduled for June 2nd, on Avenida Paulista, in the Capital. The theme of this edition is “Enough of Negligence and Setbacks in the Legislature – Vote consciously for the rights of the LGBT+ population”.
According to the São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade Association (APOLGBT), the objective is to take advantage of the demonstration, the largest in the world in the open air, and draw attention to the importance of conscious voting in October this year, in the elections for councilor and mayor, as a way of mobilizing for community rights.
Taking place from 10am on June 2nd, the Parade aims to mobilize the LGBT+ population about the power of voting, which may or may not choose representatives capable of embracing diversity agendas.
“The 28th LGBT+ Pride Parade in SP arrives, uniting us for changes and for the support of the Brazilian legislative branch for greater security for the LGBT+ community within our country”, assesses the organization.
This year, the Brazilian population elects on October 6th (1st round) or October 27th (2nd round) representatives at the municipal level: mayors and councilors who will represent the more than 5,560 municipalities in Brazil.”
