“How to be an Inclusive Leadership”

The previous work, launched in 2017, was revised and expanded to bring innovative concepts and trends about diversity that will have an impact on the corporate world and throughout Brazilian society

As one of the most prominent experts and authorities on Diversity and Inclusion, who experiences the constant and rapid change of the globalized world and sheds light on the new stage of maturity in the appreciation of diversity in companies, Liliane RochaCEO and Founder of Gestão Kairós, decided to focus on her work How to be an Inclusive Leader, written in 2013, released in 2017 and which was a structuring basis for understanding the topic in Brazil, being one of the first books on the topic on the market national.

As a result of this period of immersion and reevaluation of the editorial content of the previous book, the executive relaunched her work in an expanded and revised version, now with a new title “How to be an Inclusive Leadership”, edited and distributed by Scortecci Editora. The book brings a disruptive perspective to topics that are not even being discussed today, anticipating the main Diversity and Inclusion trends in the market.

This new edition is an inspiring and transformative journey, in which Liliane Rocha brings current approaches that elevate debates on Diversity Management to more strategic levels within companies. Dynamic, innovative and avant-garde, the author reinforces that, for an effective transformation, it is necessary that companies, institutions and individuals, more than will, have a real commitment to a concept that she developed throughout her career, based on a corporate perspective on Diversity, such as People, Process and Budget Management within the theme.

With five new chapters, in its more than 130 pages, the book “How to be an Inclusive Leadership” deals not only with Diversity in the corporate world, but mainly addresses it as an issue inherent to the human being and which, therefore, must be understood in a multidisciplinary way by all people. To illustrate this paradigm shift, there is a dedicated space in the work to talk about “the white man as a universal subject”! According to Liliane, “the cisgender heterosexual white man is so at the center of the social narrative that, historically, we have talked about diversity, reinforcing the data and narratives of black people, women, LGBTQPIAN+, people with disabilities and other diversity groups, addressing the importance of inclusion through alterity of the subject, who today is already a central figure in leadership, positions of power and social spaces”.

These are reports of personal experiences and learnings from Liliane who, based on her identity markers, as a woman and black woman, having to overcome many challenges, throughout her more than 18 years of professional career, whether as a global executive or as an entrepreneur heading up a one of the largest diversity and inclusion consultancies in Latin America, Gestão Kairós. All this knowledge is systematized in the work and will certainly inspire and support other leaders so that their journeys in search of effective Diversity Management are successful.

The previous version of the book, entitled How to be an Inclusive Leader, became mandatory reading for high-ranking company leaders, as well as for various professionals, students or other people interested in understanding the topic from a business perspective, knowledge that today is already It is understood as a competence for the present and future of work. With more than 4 thousand copies sold, the previous book was acquired by around 40 companies that, committed to Diversity Management in their business strategies, decided to present their employees and leaders with copies of the work.

“The idea for this relaunch came from my perception that, in recent years, there has been an increase in knowledge and understanding on the part of companies about the attributes that Diversity brings to business, but they still continue to have difficulties to advance this process. Based on my experience and knowledge, I bring the avant-garde concept that ‘Diversity is Management’, and that without this it is not possible to reach new heights in the inclusion journey. In one of the new chapters, I share information and provoke reflections on this topic and inspire leaders to seek to work with process, people and budget management, as I know that without management the initiatives will not progress concretely”explained the author.
