The influencer revealed mean comments about the family she formed alongside Vitin, her husband, and Dom, her son
We live in a society that has evolved in many ways. However, there are some others that seem to have been stagnant for decades. One of them is the normalization that still exists about prejudice. Even with several laws that criminalize its different forms, this did not mean that the judgment of a person because of a certain characteristic was finalized. the influencer Tatah Favero participated in the podcast What did you say, standard?presented by Andressa de Almeidaand opened her heart about situations where she and her family suffered prejudices such as ableism, racism and fatphobia.
“This pattern thing is present in several situations, right? Questions about the body have always been part of my life, but when I became a mother, I found myself needing new arguments for life. Suddenly, I had to deal with much more than fatphobia, I had to deal with racism and ableism. I confess that it was surreal and quite absurd”revealed.
Tatah is married to vitinvocalist of the band Eleven:20. Together they are parents of Dominic, aged 4, who was born with Down Syndrome. After the child’s birth, Tatah confessed that she began to live a new reality, but not just because she was experiencing that moment of motherhood: she began to deal with comments about the boy’s color.
“I have always dealt with the issue of the body. This is something I go through my whole life, but nowadays I argue well when there is an unpleasant comment. Turns out, out of nowhere, I found myself talking about racism. It was unbelievable having to explain that I have something called a recessive gene, and if I’m white and my husband is black, my child could be born black too.” vented.
She continued to describe the situations:“The standard exists, it is a fact. But we get more criticism about my son’s color than we do about Trisomy 21 itself. Dom was born white, whiter than me, but we’ve even received messages from people asking if he hadn’t been changed in the maternity ward. Do you have any idea?”.
“With all due respect to the term, the speech was exactly like this: ‘They took the healthy black boy and left the disabled white boy for you, right? But father is the one who creates. The important thing is love’. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.” said the influencer.
Businesswoman, she also recalled the criticism she suffered while she was pregnant and chose to continue her travel and work routine: “I didn’t stop being in places, so it was common for me to hear things like ‘Wow, and those shows Tatah goes there, huh?’. No one questions the traveling working dad, but the events mom is always doing something wrong.”
“All of this is something that hurts us very, very much. It’s very easy to see from the outside and say ‘let it go’, but prejudice hurts. Racism hurts. If it was just ‘let it go’, it wouldn’t hurt anyone, but it hurts and needs to end”finished.
