James Mangold, director and screenwriter of the Boba Fett solo film, has confirmed that production has been canceled by Lucasfilm.
Sad news for fans of the Star Wars universe: Boba Fett’s solo movie has been officially canceled by Lucasfilm. The feature had been announced in 2018, and would have a script and direction by James Mangold, who was responsible for announcing the cancellation of the production. Supposedly, the plot would be an adaptation of a short story based on the character.
mangold broke the news during an interview with the podcast “Happy, Sad and Confused”, where the filmmaker revealed some details of the script and commented more on the cancellation.
I was doing this for a while. [o filme]. I was creating something along the lines of an R-rated Spaghetti Western set on a single planet. They probably never would have accepted Baby Yoda if I had done it that way. So it wasn’t really suited to the world I was imagining.”
It is important to remember that manglod had already given some signs that he would no longer work on the Boba Feet film. One of these indications happened in 2018, when the director commented on the twitter who was in the production of the feature “Ford vs. Ferrari”, not a movie “with Mandalorians involved”.
