In an interview, the artist said that he considers the West and Ukraine responsible for Russia’s aggression.
The musician and co-founder of Pink Floyd Roger Waters, speaking at the UN Security Council, said that Russia was provoked to attack Ukraine. This was reported by The Guardian.
So, in his address, the artist, acting as a guest of Russia and condemning all parties, said that he was speaking on behalf of “four billion brothers and sisters.”
“The aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine is illegal. I condemn it in the strongest terms. In addition, the aggression of Russia in Ukraine was not unprovoked, so I also condemn the provocateurs in the strongest terms,” he says.
In turn, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN Serhiy Kislitsa noted that Roger Waters has become “a brick in the wall of Russian disinformation and propaganda” and that he should continue playing the guitar, and not give lectures at the Security Council.
“In 1979, Pink Floyd wrote the song Another Brick in the Wall. That same year, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. After Pink Floyd was condemned for the invasion, the group was banned from the Soviet Union. It is ironic, if it is not hypocritical, that Mr. Waters is now attempting another attack. It is sad for his former fans to see him playing the role of another brick in the wall – the wall of Russian disinformation and propaganda,” Kislitsa said.
Earlier it was reported that Roger Waters wrote an open letter to Elena Zelenskaya, in which he called on the side of our country to refuse “weapons supplies from the United States.”
