Disney’s holiday campaign, which supports Make-A-Wish, has released a new short film set during the holiday season.
Disney already has its new campaign “Celebrating Magic” for Christmas, and with that it launched a new short film. The production, which shows a little about the end of year festivities, came about in support of the long-standing partnership between the company and the Make-A-Wish institution.
The short film entitled “The Gift” is three minutes long and celebrates the comfort that stories bring to families in times of change and how they manage to deepen their relationships through unity. The animation is the last part of the “Da Nossa Família Para Sua” trilogy, which is already available on Youtube and Disney+, as well as on Disney channels.
The first short of this trilogy was released in 2020 and is called “Lola”. We are introduced to the strong connection between Nicole and her grandmother Lola and how they bond through traditions passed down through generations. Check out!
The second short film of the campaign was released in 2021 and is called “Pai de Coração”. The production accompanies Nicole as an adult and with two children, Max and Ella. The story shows the children welcoming their stepdad Mike into their home. One of the main points of the narrative is a very special storybook. Watch!
In this year’s animation, we see that Nicole’s family is preparing for another season of parties and now with another member in the family. “The Gift” shows Max and Ella’s relationship with their new little brother and all that from the girl’s point of view. This time, there is a Plush Mickey Mouse as the main object of the plot. Look!
Sarah FoxVP Marketing & Comms and Disney Consumer Products of the company, comments on this issue of short films being so directly interconnected:
Over the past three years, millions of people have watched our characters in our animated series of shorts as they spend time together creating connections and memories. We set out to create a family structure that would resonate with audiences worldwide. We are so grateful for the support we have received for this festive campaign and hope that families and fans will enjoy this moving and timely final installment of the trilogy.”
“The Gift” was developed and produced by Disney’s Consumer Products, Gaming & Publishing creative team. The project was led by Angela Affinita and had Flux Animation Studios in New Zealand as a partner. The production has an original song, titled “A Little More” and which is interpreted by Jessica Darrow, who lent her voice to Luisa Madrigal in “Encanto”. The Portuguese version has Fab Bang and is called “A Little More”.
The “Celebrating Magic” campaign also promotes special events, actions with influencers, activations, exclusive TV ads, among other things. And a curiosity: fans can find easter eggs from Disney products in the shorts.
Make-A-Wish
The campaign once again supports Disney’s alliance with Make-A-Wish. Since 2020, the company walt disney has a committed value of more than US$4 million as part of the institution’s year-end campaigns and its network of affiliates around the world. The support, which comes from financial donations, media value and donations, is a contribution for the institution to continue fulfilling the wishes of sick children, and this represents Disney’s own commitment.
This year’s short played a role in making three dreams come true for children linked to Make-A-Wish. Among the easter eggs that fans can find, three have a story behind them and one of them is the coat design of Sanka, the family dog, which can be seen in the ice skating scene. This specific easter egg was created by siennaa 12-year-old girl who lives in the United Kingdom and dreams of becoming a Fashion Designer.
We are proud to continue our partnership with Disney and delighted that fans can continue to be involved with the cause, bringing hope and joy to children with critical illnesses, and helping us realize even more life-changing dreams,” comments Luciano Manzo, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish® International.
