If we have to go back to the origin.
Academic education and a deep work ethic were at the heart of everything in my traditional Indian family. I admired my father, a university professor, but my mother, above all, inspired me. He handed over three diplomas three times in his life, showed me that we can continuously develop and apply ourselves to succeed in everything. My parents saw me as a doctor or an engineer, I dreamed of journalism.

Apple CEO Tim Cook talks about the importance of developing a “carbon neutral economy”.

The red thread of your career.
I deliberately got the worst grades in medical school. My father finally relented. I negotiated a computer science, communications major at Columbia University in New York. As a morning news reporter for ABC and then working at Disney in development, I learned rigor, analyzing data and fine-tuning messages.

Decisive moment.
My mother’s heart attack, just before 9/11. When we had to change his hospital, I realized that we need to take care of his health and that of his loved ones so that we don’t feel helpless. I left my media career and returned to medicine. I loved my seven years at Stanford, I stayed there to teach *. Then in 2017, Apple made me an offer.

The height of your position.
Explore what medicine and science can do with technology to offer intuitive and non-intrusive tools to help better understand the body. I work with everyone—engineers, doctors, regulators, and designers—who create very beautiful objects.

I realized that you need to take care of your health and that of your loved ones so that you don’t feel helpless

Your next challenges?
Give everyone the right tools to understand the signals their bodies are sending and be proactive. We continue to make progress in everything related to the heart, medication and psychological well-being.

Digital addiction?
I’m counting my steps! And I have a positive thinking app.

Disconnect for a moment?
Every evening, we take a short walk with our children, talk about the day, we are in the present moment.

Defining your influence.
Influence not for vanity, but to give back. Help other women gain power by knowing to never be afraid to ask for help.
