Find out what time the documentary ‘O Sétimo Rebelde’ will premiere, a work produced by +SBT that evaluates RBD’s success in Brazil through its fans
In 2004, the soap opera that would become a worldwide phenomenon premiered on the Mexican broadcaster Televisa: “Rebelde”. Inspired by the Argentine soap opera “Rebelde Way”, the plot followed the lives of a group of completely different young people who studied at an elite school, but who ended up becoming friends thanks to music.
In Brazilian lands, the work only arrived in 2005, being shown by SBT and becoming a national sensation in a short time. With around 400 episodes, the soap opera remained on the air until June 2006 — but this was just the beginning for the franchise.
This is because the success of “Rebelde” became so great that the musical group created in the plot, RBD, which should have been just fiction, went beyond the small screen and became one of the main Latin American hits of the 2000s, breaking sales records. and dragging crowds wherever they went.
In Brazil, RBD has become a huge national passion. Due to their fame in the country, the group even released Portuguese versions of some albums, such as “Celestial (Versão Português)” and “ Nosso Amor Rebelde”.
Furthermore, the band has always made a point of including Brazilian fans in their projects, making numerous visits to our lands. Among the most memorable moments for admirers are the recordings of the DVDs “Live in Rio” and “Live in Brasília”, filmed in 2006 and 2008, respectively.
In 2023, with the “Soy Rebelde Tour” reunion tour, the group performed eight sold-out shows in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, marking a moment of nostalgia and celebration of almost 20 years of RBD. A new DVD with recordings of the performances in the capital of São Paulo is scheduled to be released, however, no date has yet been confirmed.
Now, in the year that marks two decades since “Rebelde” first aired in Brazil, SBT will release a special documentary that assesses the continued success of Anahi, Alfonso Herrera, Sweet Maria, Maite Perroni, Christopher Uckermann and Christian Chavez as RBD, entitled “The Seventh Rebel”.
When does the documentary “The Seventh Rebel” premiere?
“The Seventh Rebel” is scheduled to premiere on next Wednesday, 22nd, on the +Novelas channel of the free streaming service +SBT, at 9:30 pm. Soon after, from midnight on January 23rd, the documentary will be made available in the platform’s catalog for fans to watch whenever and wherever they want.
The official production synopsis says: “The history of the band RBD through the vision of those largely responsible for this phenomenon: the fans. Let’s understand why the soap opera Rebelde won over an entire generation of teenagers who rallied around their idols. With emotional and moving testimonials, fans reveal to us how the characters and later the artists themselves marked their lives, from adolescence to the present day.”
