After winning the Golden Globe, Colin Farrell remembers Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix

Colin Farrell, actor from the ‘Penguin’ series, reveals that Heath Ledger and Joaquim Phoenix were his inspirations for playing Batman’s antagonist

“You mentioned two actors who, in my opinion, are two of the most extraordinarily talented and brilliant film artists I’ve had the chance to observe and be inspired by. What Heath did in Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight was extraordinary and will live on for generations. And what [Phoenix] did with Joker is reflected by all the awards he won, including the Oscar. It was extraordinary.”

He also expressed gratitude for being in the same conversation as the two, but was categorical in placing himself as a fan first and foremost:

“They are both very special. So having my name said in the same sentence as these actors is honestly lovely, but I’m still more of a fan than anything. I don’t think I’m part of the pantheon. Joaquin and Heath are two extraordinary and honestly great actors.”

Ledger He won a posthumous Golden Globe in 2009 as “Best Supporting Actor” for his iconic performance in “The Dark Knight” (2008). Already phoenixHe won the award for “Best Actor in a Drama Film” in 2020 for Joker (2019), which also won him an Oscar.
