Konstantin Liberov won the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for his photo series War in Ukraine, which won according to the results of the public vote.
Ukrainian war photographer Konstantin Liberov has been recognized as a winner of the prestigious Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award, which is awarded annually to war correspondents from around the world. The award ceremony was held in the French city of Bayeux.
Liberov won in the Photo category thanks to a series of photos of the War in Ukraine. Pain, despair and hope, which received first place according to the results of an open audience vote. He also took second place in the jury’s choice in the same category.
“This is a great honor and an incredible victory – both personally and for Ukrainian war photography as a whole. Thanks to this victory, we continue to fulfill our mission – to highlight the struggle of Ukraine and show the truth in whole world,” Konstantin said.
Established 30 years ago to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Normandy landings, the award recognizes the contributions of war correspondents to the reporting of international conflicts. Liberov, along with his wife Vlada, has been documenting the war since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, working on the front line.
