In Germany, the MAiRA Pro S robot conducted a symphony orchestra for the first time, demonstrating the collaboration of man and machine.
A unique concert took place in Germany, where the MAiRA Pro S robotic arm conducted the Dresden Symphony Orchestra for the first time in honor of its 25th anniversary.
According to The Guardian, the main purpose of the presentation is not to show the possibilities of replacing people, but to show how technology can work with musicians.
The concert consisted of two parts: first conducted by Magnus Loddgaard, and then a robot with three separate arms holding lightsabers of different colors directed the musicians, creating cross-rhythms . The robot performed by the works of Wieland Reissmann’s Kreuzknoten and Andreas Gundlach’s Semiconductor’s Masterpiece.
The work took two years to prepare, during which he was taught to imitate the movements of a live conductor with the help of experts from the Technical University of Dresden.
