Terry Crews talks about returning to play Julius in the animated version of ‘Everybody Hates Chris’

‘Everybody Still Hates Chris’, an animation that continues the events of ‘Everybody Hates Chris’, premiered today, the 25th, in the United States

This Wednesday, the 25th, the animation “Everybody Still Hates Chris” premiered in the United States, a production that continues the events of the series “Everybody Hates Chris”, a semi-autobiographical production by the comedian. Chris Rock.

Being extremely loved by Brazilians to this day, the animation features the return of two actors from the original cast: Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold as Chris’s parents, Julius and Rochelle. In a recent interview with THR, Terry commented on the feeling of bringing the character back to life, even 15 years after the end of the series:

“We weren’t done telling the story. We did four seasons and there was so much more we wanted to say and do, but we got canceled. We thought that was it, that we would never come back. And to be able to come back to a character and have this new life, makes me feel like the luckiest man in Hollywood,” said the actor.

Crews he also explains that, unlike what many expected, the animation is not a reboot, but rather a continuation of the series, with the plot starting exactly where the last episode left off.

“The story picks up right where the last episode left off, and we go right into the next minute. That’s what I love about the show, and the tone is amazing. What everyone loved about the previous show, which was live action, was the fantasy elements.”

The actor continues his speech by stating that “with animation, we can go as far as we want. There are no limits to the jokes. It’s hilarious! I would read the scripts and just cry from laughing so hard. And now we have two generations that can enjoy the series. Those who watched it before and grew up with it, and now the new audience. I would advise everyone to rewatch the first four seasons and then start over with Everybody Still Hates Chris.”

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” premiered today in the United States on Comedy Central, however, there is still no release date set for Brazil.
