In a recent interview, the artist shared her plans for next summer and says that the new song promises innovation.
Celebrating four decades of history and 30 years of the iconic album ‘O Canto da Cidade’,Daniela Mercury is preparing to surprise her fans with new productions. In a recent interview with Quem magazine, the singer discussed the importance of adapting to changes over time, especially with the growth of digital platforms.
“We, as artists, don’t need to stop working, because we can produce as long as we want and have the energy to do so. You see Gilberto Gil, in my early 80s, Elza Soareswho made spectacular albums at the end of her life, is only not with us due to fate. I am a very restless woman. In fact, I love to create”, she said.
Since the 1980s in the music scene, Daniela celebrates the “infinity” of options that streaming services like Spotify currently offer, especially after the platform completed 10 years in Brazil. “It’s a challenge and, at the same time, a gift to be able to move through this universe of artists. We’re always getting to know the newer ones, who are much more accessible to us [hoje]”.
It’s a catalog that we didn’t know about, from many artists that we loved, who didn’t have these albums yet. It’s an infinite universe, many lives, incarnations for us to listen to. I’m happy because I get involved in music, which is what I love most in life,” she added.
Unprecedented surprise
As one of the great voices of Carnival,Daniela already prepare one unprecedented surprise for the next festive season: “My playroom is the studio. I’m researching a mix of Brazilian and foreign music, something I’ve never done, for next summer, to celebrate these 40 years of axé that are coming up,” he said.
Regarding her presence on the international scene, the artist highlights her impact outside Brazil: “I am always international, because the more from Bahia, the more international we are, many years of success, more than 700 shows in the country alone. I am well known in many places around the world. But I am recognized as a Brazilian artist, very proud”, she concluded.
