At the Burning Man 2024 celebration in the United States, the installation I’m Fine from Ukraine, made from war artifacts collected in unoccupied territories, was presented.
At the world festival of contemporary art Burning Man 2024, which takes place annually in the Black Rock Desert, USA, the Ukrainian installation I’m Fine was presented. This was reported by the Ukrainian Witness media project.
The installation, which weighs 10 tons and is 7 meters high, is made from authentic war artifacts collected from the occupied territories of Ukraine. Materials include bullet-riddled street signs, solar panels, satellite dishes, destroyed city signs and broken fences. Each element tells the stories of people who died early in the war due to Russian aggression.
“It’s about people who were killed by the Russians at the beginning of the war just for crossing the road or riding a bicycle to do business. There were two signs that said ‘Beware of children’. One of them was brought near a school completely destroyed by the Russians in the Kherson region When I talk to the audience about this, then every time I show a picture of the ruins of the school destroyed by tanks in the first days of the massive war There huge road signs with the names of settlements from Big Well to Kherson, Chernigov and Kharkov , in Kherson there are only three such big signs,” said the initiator of the Ukrainian Witness media project Vitaly Deinega.
Artist Alexey Say created an installation from these remains in the form of the phrase “I’m Fine,” symbolizing Ukrainians’ answers to questions about their situation during the war.
It was previously reported that an installation from Ukraine was set on fire at the Burning Man festival in the United States.
