BTS Fans Ask JTBC to Justify Fake Images in Suga Controversy

After the release of new security camera footage, BTS fans are calling on social media for an apology from JTBC to Suga

On Wednesday, the 14th, the South Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo published an article with new images captured by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) security cameras, which recorded the incident that occurred with Sucksa member of BTS, who was caught driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.

In the video, it is possible to see more clearly a man — confirmed to be Sucks by BigHit Music to the newspaper — driving an electric scooter at low speed on the way to the Nine One Hannam condominium, and losing balance after making a left turn. At this moment, three police officers who were nearby approached to provide assistance, where they noticed the driver’s drunkenness.

With the publication of the new images, the Dong-A Ilbo newspaper accuses the broadcaster JTBC of releasing fake images last week, claiming that they were of the artist. At the time, one day after the incident, the outlet reported a video that was also allegedly recorded by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) security cameras, in which we see a man driving a vehicle similar to a scooter on a busy street. However, due to the distance and the quality of the image, it is not possible to say with certainty that the person present in the recording was the singer.

According to reports (via AllKpop), it was concluded that in the video shared by JTBC, the pilot was heading in a direction that did not correspond to the same route traced by Sucks.

South Korean police say the artist had been drinking at a restaurant with friends at 9 p.m. on August 6, and then drank alcohol again in his private studio. Around 11 p.m., the star left the studio and took an electric scooter to Nine One Hannam, where the incident captured on security cameras released by Dong-A Ilbo took place.

With the new information, social media was taken over by BTS fans, who asked JTBC to clarify the situation and retract by publishing an apology to Sucks for spreading false information, which resulted in a wave of attacks on the artist.
