5 reality shows starring BTS members

BTS, one of the best-known Korean pop groups, has participated in several reality shows since their debut in 2013; get to know five of them!

Variety shows, known worldwide as reality shows, are widely used in South Korea to promote K-pop artists and increase their visibility, especially for those just starting out in their careers.

BTS, currently one of the most well-known groups in the genre, has participated in several since their debut in 2013. Throughout their career, they have accumulated a series of this type of content, many of which are available online. Check out some of them in the list below!

1. Run BTS!

Launched in 2015, “Run BTS!” is the most well-known variety show among fans of the boy group. The plot is based on competitions in different games between the members, in addition to showing much of the relationship between the seven members throughout the more than 150 episodes available.

Currently, “Run BTS!” has gained a spin-off “Run Jin”, as Jin is the only member of the group who has been released from mandatory military service so far. The first episode of the program was made available this Tuesday, the 13th, on BTS’s official YouTube channel; watch it!

2. In The Soop

The reality show “In The Soop” follows BTS on a sort of country vacation, where all seven members spend time away from the frenetic routine of idols and move to a house in the middle of a forest in South Korea.

There, they establish a relaxed routine while enjoying their free time, where they paint, cook and do other activities together. The two seasons of the program are available through Weverse, but only for subscribers, where access to extra behind-the-scenes content is also available; check out one of the teasers for the first season:

3. Bangtan Bomb

Another reality show available through BTS’s official YouTube channel is “Bangtan Bomb”, which consists of a series of videos that show behind the scenes, training, performances and other diverse content from the boy group or each member individually.

The videos are posted periodically and are usually 5 to 10 minutes long, making it easy to maintain a routine to keep up with the updates. The latest episode posted follows Jungkook “chilling in Qatar” at the time he hosted the opening match of the 2022 World Cup; check it out!

4. American Hustle Life

The “American Hustle Life”, broadcast in 2014 by the Mnet network in South Korea, followed BTS on a trip to Las Vegas, in the United States. During the episodes, the members received several missions related to hip-hop culture, challenging them to improvise in different situations, especially considering that, at the time, their command of the English language was limited.

With the participation of rappers Coolio, Tony James and Warren G as mentors, the program is available on YouTube; watch the first episode with Portuguese subtitles:

5. Bon Voyage

Over the course of four seasons, “Bon Voyage” follows BTS to various destinations around the world, including countries such as New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, Hawaii, Malta and Norway. Similar to other reality shows, this one also shows the friendship between the members, as well as individual recordings as they venture out to international destinations.

Although the last season aired in 2019, all episodes are available on YouTube!
