The MTV VMAs will take place on September 11, a day later than planned, due to the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
MTV moved the date of the VMA ceremony to September 11 due to the US presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, which was scheduled for September 10. Deadline reports this in relation to the organizers.
The network speculated that the decision to postpone the event was due to fear of low ratings, as all attention would be focused on the debate. MTV also reaffirmed its support for the 9/11 Day nonprofit and Tuesday’s Children, which helps families of victims of the attacks.
MTV announced the first acts to perform at the ceremony, including Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Rauw Alejandro. Other artists, presenters and special guests will be announced soon.
Leading the way in nominations this year was Taylor Swift, who took home 10 awards, including Video of the Year. Other nominees include Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter. Ukrainian cinematographer Nikita Kuzmenko was nominated again in the Best Cinematography category for Dua Lipa’s Illusion video, directed by Ukrainian Tanya Muinho.
Earlier it was reported that the MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony in Paris was canceled due to “the instability of what is happening in the world.”
