The Romanian Navy reported that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 100 mines have been discovered and destroyed off the coast of Romania.
On Tuesday, August 13, the Romanian Navy detonated a sea mine drifting off the coast of the Black Sea. Reuters reported this in relation to the country’s Ministry of Defense.
Local authorities have reportedly alerted the Romanian Navy to an unidentified object that washed ashore in Grindul Quituk in southeastern Romania. This territory is part of the Danube Delta, which Romania shares with Ukraine.
“According to photographs taken at the site, the object is most likely an anti-landing mine, like the anchor river mine,” the Romanian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The Romanian Navy added that since the beginning of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, more than 100 mines have been discovered and destroyed off the coast of Romania.
Earlier it was reported that in the village of Staritsa, Kharkov region, during an independent evacuation in a forest belt, nine civilians were blown up on a Russian tripwire. Three of them died and six were injured.
