Find out who is the TWICE member who, before joining JYP Entertainment, trained for a year at SM Entertainment
In the K-pop industry, to become an idol, aspiring artists must go through a mandatory training period, where they will receive lessons in singing, dancing, acting, languages, and everything else needed to become a big music star.
However, the length of time someone remains in the training period is uncertain. Likewise, the long-awaited debut is also not a guarantee, meaning trainees need to do their best to stand out and, consequently, be chosen by the company’s producers to be in the final debut line-up.
For this reason, it is extremely common for trainees to end up changing agencies — either because they were rejected by the company, or simply because they did not see a possibility of debuting in the place they were, and ended up deciding to try to debut somewhere else.
Fans can often be surprised by their favorite artists’ trajectory before debut — something that recently happened to TWICE fans, who were shocked by a revelation made by their leader. Jihyo.
Trainee at another company?
This is because, since the girl group’s debut, Jihyo She is known as the member who trained the longest at JYP Entertainment, spending 10 long years as a trainee, having classes alongside other great artists from the company, such as members of miss A and 2PM, in addition to having joined the agency on the same day as Sunmiby Wonder Girls.
However, during his participation in the program “Hyo’s Level Up”, presented on YouTube by Hyoyeonfrom Girls’ Generation, the leader of TWICE shocked everyone by revealing that, before going to JYP, she trained for a year at SM Entertainment.
In the conversation, the idol recalls how she was well treated by all the members of Girls’ Generation, who were also trainees at the time, and they always told her how cute she was, in addition to even comparing the size of her head to that of a CD, showing how small she was, after all, she was just an eight-year-old girl.
When asked about the reason for her departure, Jihyo She further explained that at that time, the person who cast her at SM Entertainment had moved to JYP Entertainment, and her parents decided to go to the new company with the professional.
With the answer, Hyoyeon jokingly lamented the departure of Jihyo from SM, saying that, if she had decided to stay, she could have debuted alongside her in Girls’ Generation, despite her age, since, even though she was younger than everyone else — taking into account that the maknae Seohyun is from 1991, while the leader of TWICE is from 1997 —, she would still have a lot of experience, and could easily be chosen to complete the line-up.
