Matthew Lewis, actor who played the character Neville Longbottom in the franchise’s films, comments on the possibility of acting in the series
Matthew Lewisactor who became known for playing the character Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise, said he would not refuse to participate in Max’s new series. According to People magazine (via Omelete), Matthew He says he’s not looking for the opportunity, but he also wouldn’t say ‘no’ if they asked him:
It’s not something I’m actively pursuing, nor is it something I have much desire to do… but I also wouldn’t turn up my nose and say ‘no’ right away. He would be very interested in a story that included Neville as an adult, with a very different vibe. It could be really cool.”
He also comments on the different possibilities that acting provides in the artistic world, highlighting that you don’t always need to play the same role:
Being an actor means I don’t always have to be the same thing. I’ve played a nurse, a police officer, a soldier and a wizard. I’ve been all these different things, and I never know what’s next. I love it.”
Last May, Daniel Radcliffe, protagonist of all the films in the franchise, also revealed in an interview with E! News whether or not he would be part of the cast again. On the contrary Matthewhe says he has no interest in returning to the role that marked his career:
I don’t think so. I think they (Max) very wisely want a break (with the films). And I don’t know if it would work if we were part of that. I’m going to be political about this and not deal in hypotheticals.”
The new series will readapt the books of the Harry Potter saga, with the author J.K. Rowling taking over production. There is no defined release date yet, but the premiere is scheduled to take place in 2026 through Max.
