Find out which BTS member has already tried acting and was the star of a serial production from South Korea
In addition to the singing, dancing and performance skills seen on stage for over 11 years, the members of BTS have careers parallel to those of idols, as some of them are producers, composers, and even models, as the southern entertainment industry -Korean is responsible for preparing them to do their best in front of and behind the camera in various areas.
Even so, one of the members of the septet formed in 2013 by BIGHIT Entertainment (currently BIGHIT MUSIC) ended up putting into practice an attribute that other members of the group never explored: acting — a skill generally seen in serial productions coming from South Korea, also called k-dramas, which present audiences with the perfect mix of romance, drama, suspense, fantasy and comedy.
So much so, that this mix makes the productions popular beyond the borders of the country of creation, a feat that can also be attributed to the stories, as they range from a lawyer involved with the Italian mafia to the young girl with self-esteem problems who discover your inner beauty — and of course, your true love.
It was so successful that on November 29th last year, Rakuten Viki streaming; the language learning app, Duolingo; the online comics platform WEBTOON and other companies have come together to celebrate International K-drama Day, with programs, discounts and events aimed at lovers of titles from South Korea.
But, who is the BTS member who is also an actor? It turns out that in 2016,Kim Tae Hyungbetter known as V, participated in “Hwarang”. In the K-drama directed by Yoon Sung Sikthe idol gives life to Han-sung, the character is part of a group known as Hwarang, who fought for justice in Seorabeol, the capital of the kingdom.
The synopsis, available on Rakuten Vikii, says: “History is often made at the expense of the efforts of talented and passionate young people. During the Silla Kingdom, an elite group of young people known as Hwarang exerted great influence. These gallant and talented knights – Moo Myung (Park Seo Joon), Sam Maek Jong (Park Hyung Sik), Soo Ho (Choi Minho), Ban Ryu (Do Ji Han), Yeo Wool (Jo Yoon Woo), Han Sung (Kim Tae Hyung [V do BTS]) and the maiden Ah Ro (Go Ara) – managed to surpass, in intelligence and strength, anyone in their search for justice in Seorabeol, the capital of the kingdom. One of them will become King Jin Heung of Silla and change the course of history.”
Since then, V He hasn’t participated in any other K-drama. Still, he was able to explore the performing arts again in the MV for “Love Wins All”, a pre-release track for the soloist’s latest comeback UI, released on January 24th. In the MV, the artists play a couple trying to stay together in a post-apocalyptic world. Remember!
It is worth remembering that even if you see V acting may be a pleasant surprise for the ARMY (BTS fandom), it is not uncommon to see idols inserted in the world of acting, be it in cinema and television, since in the universe of k-dramas, faces known in the world of k-pop are always found in the cast.
Among the idols who are also actors is Cha Eunwoo, for example, who, in addition to being a member of the boy group ASTRO, is also in “Beleza Verdadeira” (2020); “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” (2018); “Rookie Historian, Goo Hae Ryung” (2019), “A Good Day To Be A Dog” (2023) and many other titles.
