Netflix has acquired John Lee Hancock’s drama Monsanto

Netflix has signed a $34 million deal for John Lee Hancock’s Monsanto as part of a deal struck at the Cannes Film Festival.

Netflix picked up the drama Monsanto directed by John Lee Hancock. It is reported by various.

The film, based on a true story, stars Glenn Powell, Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern. Produced by Moritz Bormann, Eric Kopeloff, John Levine, Philip Schultz-Dale, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick.

The film itself tells the story of a young lawyer (Powell) who takes on a case against the chemical giant Monsanto on behalf of a school gardener (Mackie) who used a pesticide produced by the company.

During the trial, the company’s chief toxicologist Monsanto Dr. showed Melinda Rogers (Dern) that Roundup is safe.
