Disney CEO Bob Iger said the studio will release no more than three new movies per year going forward.
Disney plans to release fewer movies (including Marvel movies) and “focus more on quality” after several high-profile box office failures. The Guardian reported this.
A series of recent big-budget Disney films, including Amazing, Indiana Jones and a relic of fate, Wish And Haunted Manorfell last year, hurting its box office record, making Marvel’s future a hot topic in the industry.
Iger suggested that instead of releasing movies quarterly, the company should make them a real event for fans.
“I’m working hard at the studio to reduce production volumes and focus more on quality. This is especially true for Marvel,” he said.
In particular, Iger said that the volumes will be gradually reduced: they will move to two series per year instead of four and to two or three films per year maximum.
It was earlier reported that Netflix has started filming the second season of the popular series. Wednesday directed by Tim Burton.
